President Franklin D. Roosevelt's Personal Walking Cane
This monogrammed traveling cane set was owned and used by President Franklin D. Roosevelt. It was acquired from the estate of Walter Reynolds, former Chief Clerk in the United States Senate. Mr. Reynolds and FDR were close friends before and during his administration. The President gave this cane set to Mr. Reynolds after he had injured his leg in an accident and required a walking device. It remained in Mr. Reynold's political artifact collection until he passed away. FDR can be seen using the cane in many photographs, a few of them shown below.
