General Patton & Staff In France - Signed Photograph
The photograph below was taken somewhere in Europe in 1944. General Patton is flanked by his Chief of Staff Brig. General Hobart R. Gay (left), and his Deputy Chief of Staff, Brig. General Paul D. Harkins (right). This Army Signal Corp picture, signed by all three generals, was taken during the Third Army's drive into Germany following the Normandy invasion. In December, 1945, General Gay was riding in the back seat of a staff car with Patton when there was a traffic accident, resulting in the paralysis which eventually took Patton's life. All three generals, including Patton signed the photograph - "Hobart R. Gray", "GS Patton, Jr", "Paul D. Harkins."
