WWII Logbook Of An American POW

This is the logbook of American pilot Eugene E. Avery who was imprisoned at Stalag Luft III, a Luftwaffe-run prisoner-of-war camp during WWII that housed captured air force servicemen. It was in the German province of Lower Silesia near the town of Sagan (now Poland), a site selected because it would be difficult to escape by tunneling.  The camp is best known for two famous prisoner escapes that were depicted in the films, "The Great Escape" and "The Wooden Horse." This was an officers-only camp. The U.S. 14th Armored Division liberated Stalag Luft III on April 29, 1945.
