"Class A" Japanese Defendants En Route to Tokyo War Crimes Tribunal, 1946

The International Military Tribunal for the Far East tried 28 "Class A"Japanese military and government officials accused of committing war crimes and crimes against humanity during WWII. 25 of the defendants were found guilty and seven of them were executed, including General Hedeki Tojo, who served as Japanese premier during the war (pictured above). In this letter General MacArthur thanks Willis E. Mahoney for his services during the trial as a member of the Chief Prosecutor's staff. Written on MacArthur's headquarters stationary and signed, "Douglas MacArthur"
