MacArthur And Nimitz Sign USS Missouri First Day Cover
A First-Day Cover issued by the Turkish Government celebrating the surrender of Japan at a ceremony held on September 2, 1945 aboard the United States Navy battleship USS Missouri, at which officials from the Japanese government signed the Japanese Instrument of Surrender, thereby ending the hostilities. The two presiding American officers - General of The Army Douglas MacArthur and Fleet Admiral Chester Nimitz - have both signed this very rare postal cover.
